york. >> susie: so, is today's market sell-off the start of something bigger? alec young joins us with his thoughts. he's global equity strategist at s&p capital i.q. >> susie: alec, we've had a couple of days of pretty big sell-offs. could it get worse? >> i think in the short term, it could, susie. i think what we're seeing on wall street is investors being a little taken aback at th missesn the top line. given all of the uncertainty that we have with the fiscal cliff and the drag that could pose on revenue growth into 2013, i think there may be room for consensus expectation on revenues to come down a little bit more. if you look at some of the stock market reactions to some of these revenue misses, they've been pretty severe, and i think that's an indication that there's a wide gap between what wall street is expecting and what companies roll delivering. >> susie: but why is this happening now? we all knew that earnings were going to be weak. we know that the global economy is weak, whether you're talking about europe or china. so what's the real issue here? >> well, i think t

outperform the s&p in the fourth quarter. joining us now is alec young, global equity strategist for s&p captial iq with his top outperforming countries in the fourth quarter. kind of an interesting niche you have here, alec, but start with number one, germany. a lot of what is happening in europe rests on the shoulders of germany. why do you think they will do well in the fourth quarter? >> well, they have been doing well all year. they have been outperforming the eurozone for the entire year. historically we went back to 1970, we noted that germany averaged 2% returns in the for months, october, november, december. that is 2% above the broad asset class. it has been a strong seasonal performer in the fourth quarter. over the last 41 years and beyond that because we don't think people should base investment decisions on seasonal trends but looking at the fundamentals in germany we definitely think they're a lot healthier than the rest of the continent. david: fundamentals are good but i saw a pollmost germans want out of the euro. do you think those political considerations might forc

to say i don't know how believable he is. he dresses up as a woman and now he is alec cross. >> that is a big question. he is not the problem with the movie. there are a difficult onother problems. this part was played back in the day by morgan freeman. they based on the james patter ton books. you can consider this a prequel. but it is present day so it doesn't fit the linear aspect. here is the deal. the problem with the film is the product placement. the story line is alex cross is a detective in detroit, a serial killer played by matthew fox from lost is on the loose and him and his team are trying to track down the serial killer. the serial killer makes it very personal by harming someone in alec cross' family so it backs this family of moral versus what to do with the law. and here is the thing. the movie is so cliche. you have aseen movies like this before where people are driven by a revenge. but that is not the problem. tyler perry does a fine job leading the film. the product placement bothered me so much -- it was that bad? >> this is literally a scene where tile
